What To Expect

Patients who come to Columbus Surgical Associates, Inc., can expect the highest quality surgical care available. Most new patients in our practice will be seen initially in an office consultation appointment at either our Dublin Methodist Hospital or Riverside Methodist Hospital office location. Our caring office associates will help arrange the most convenient time and location for the office consultation.

Some patients may require only advice, education, or reassurance without the need for surgery, whereas further testing or surgery may be recommended for others. If surgery is recommended by the doctor, the procedure will usually be scheduled for another office procedure appointment for minor surgery or at the hospital for major procedures. Only very minor procedures, such as skin lesion removal, will be performed during the initial office consultation.

If the surgeon recommends surgery that will need to be performed in the hospital operating room under anesthesia, our surgery coordinators will contact you to begin the planning and scheduling process. We will make every effort to accommodate you with a time for surgery that is most convenient with you and your family’s schedule. Some patients may need additional laboratory tests or consultation with their primary care physician or specialists prior to surgery. Our surgery coordinator will help facilitate this process and answer any questions you may have prior to your surgery. We want to make planning for surgery as simple and stress-free for you as possible.

Some surgeries may require that certain medications or “bowel preps” be taken prior to the day of surgery. If this is necessary for your procedure, we will be sure you have clear instructions about these specific preparations.

After surgery, we will want to see you in our office to make sure you are recovering from surgery as expected, and to answer any questions you may have. You should contact our office within a few days of your surgery or hospital discharge to schedule an appointment for 7 to 14 days from the time of surgery. Also, if you have questions or concerns about your surgery prior to your post-surgery office appointment, please do not hesitate to contact us. We are here to help you every step of the way.
